As a realtor in Florida I get asked this question often. I'd like answer this question with a question.
When you call GE because your stove doesn't work, do you like talking to several people about your issue or just one person? How do you feel when you have to explain the same problem to multiple people before getting a straight answer? It can get pretty frustrating. You start to feel like a broken record. All you do is repeat the issue instead of getting it resolved.
The same concept works for realtors. When you work with multiple realtors you have to explain to them what you're looking for, what kind of schools you need, yard space, interior features, HOA or not. And on top of that instead of getting closer to finding your dream home you get further away. When you work with one realtor, you build a relationship with them. They get to know you and exactly what you are looking for. A good realtor pays attention to details and will show you houses that advance your search.
When choosing a realtor to work with be sure they make you feel comfortable. The home buying and selling process builds relationships between you and your agent. You will need to share a lot of information with them in order to move your process along.
Hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to email me at Nicolesalterrealty@gmail.com
